Jagline

JagLine shuttle service is a free transportation service in IUPUI, it aims to be an environmentally friendly option for IUPUI students and staff for moving around campus and throughout downtown. The Jagline shuttle runs six routes in total, with each of them represented in different colors. Users choose the appropriate route according to their final destination. In addition, Jagline offers services for both mobile app users and desktop users, so that they can check the bus routes and arrival times of the buses in real-time. The app also allows users to track shuttle locations in real time. The mobile app is the system that we evaluated. The intended users are IUPUI students and staff.

Even though JagLine aims to be an environmentally friendly and a convenient transportation method for IUPUI students and staff, to our surprise during the interviews we found that a lot of people are not happy with the service. They complained that the app was hard to use, and most of them even expressed that they would not introduce this app to their friends. This feedback serves as an intrinsic motivation to push us to know more about this app and the users’ real needs. Thus, in this research, our goal was to discover the challenges associated with taking the JagLine and aim to design a better experience for Jagline users. 

 

After some testing and research, we recommend a few changes...

• more intuitive search function

• A menu system

• positioning icon should be more identifiable

• The ability to communicate with google maps

• electric display boards for stops
